As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, my intention in 2017 is to set three small goals a month. I got a little (okay, a lot) burnt out last year so a change in strategy was needed in 2017. This seems like something much more doable than setting out to conquer a big new year’s resolution. In fact I hope that by setting three small goals a month versus one large goal for the year I’ll be more present in my daily life and live more intentionally.
Here are my January 2017 goals:
- Take Lady Elle on one new experience. I’m in a rut in what I do with Lady Elle. We go to the same park by the house, go swimming or play puzzles but Sarasota is full of experiences for children. I’ve neglected planning for and taking her to places such as The Ringling and Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.
- Look into self-care options. I am not being selfish when I say this. I was sick a lot towards the end of 2016 and I hate to be sick. Obviously, I need to take a look at both my mental and physical health and put them on a better path. Not only do I suffer if I don’t but so do my loved ones.
- Make one new recipe. I’m really far from being a Martha Stewart in the kitchen. Okay, really, I don’t particularly enjoy cooking. Mr. E&G is the cook in our house. I don’t even like to be the sous chef, I’d prefer to pick out the wine and set the table with pretty plates and napkins. With that said, I really don’t want to be considered a mom who can’t cook, or worse, a “bad cook.” My mom is a good cook and my sisters are too so it’s about high time I tuck a few more recipes under my belt.
If you have any suggestions for any of these goals, feel free to share. I’d love to hear them. I’ll keep you posted on how I’m doing along the way.
