It’s finally Friday and almost time for the weekend. There’s no joke that I love the weekends, who doesn’t right? It was a busy week, full of family, work and some fun thrown in for good measure. Here’s a glimpse into my favorites of the week.
Three-day weekend and girls day out.
Three day weekends are the bomb! Since Lady Elle’s school was closed and I had the day off a girls day was in order. Since Moana is no longer in theaters and I was dying to see SING, we hit the matinee. It was super cute-we even sang along-and I recommend going to see it. We dined on Chick Fil-A nuggets and hit Costco afterwards. Remind me to tell you the story about my encounter in the wine aisle on a future edition of Wine of the Week. I didn’t know whether to be flattered or not.
Lots of food.
We had clients in town for work this week so I had a lot of late nights. In addition to work luncheons I tried a new restaurant in town, Lila. I was dying to try Lila. I’ll do a full review of them both in another post but I was underimpressed with the food at Lila and didn’t feel it lived up to its hype. I’ll give it another go as restaurants can definitely have an off night. I also attended several volunteer luncheons just in case I needed more to eat. Now, a few pounds heavier after this week and hosting an international exchange family last week, I’m looking forward to a few less meals and a little more rest. Maybe I’ll slate a detox as a goal for February, my pants will thank me if I do, I’m sure.
Moments in nature.
Thursday, in particular, was a crazy day. We had a big work event on Wednesday evening so by Thursday I was just plain tired. I just couldn’t get myself out of a funk and things kept flying at me left and right. After giving a presentation over lunch, I snuck away for a few minutes and sat by the water. There was a gentle breeze and I let my worries and deadlines float away for only a minute. It was all (well, that and a big cookie) the rejuvination I needed to get me through the rest of the day without going insane.
Last Saturday I ran 11 miles. I played catch-up as I arrived ten minutes late to my running group, so I had to chase them down. I felt strong all the way to mile eight and then had to push hard. My arms and shoulders hurt, not my legs. Note to self, lift some weights girl! I also snuck in about 4 miles early one morning before dawn (I know, I know not too smart) but I felt strong. Two more training weeks before the Sarasota Half Marathon on February 5.
I hope your week was great and I’d love to hear about it.
Have a great weekend!
