Friday Favorite: Celebrations.
This week marked the beginning of a whole lot of birthdays in my world. I’m a glutton for Aries people I guess. Most of my bridesmaids, my mother and my mother-in-law are Aries. I’m not a huge horoscope person, but there must be something in their personality attracting me to these folks. I digress. This week,we celebrated my mom’s birthday by hand-decorated cards since she lives in Virginia and my mother-in-law’s 80th birthday. My brother in-law’s girlfriend and I took her out to brunch at Sophie’s at Saks, a must-experience if you are ever in Chicago or Sarasota. On her actual birthday, Lady Elle and Mr. E&G and I surprised her with flowers and a raspberry-layered tier cake. What’s a birthday without cake, flowers and wine, right? I put my phone down to celebrate the moment so I didn’t get any pictures of the gorgeous cake and happy family. If you didn’t see my post earlier this week on inspiring life lessons from 80-year-olds. Peek and grab some nuggets of wisdom. The week ended celebrating a co-workers upcoming wedding.
Friday Favorite March 24: Spring!
It’s my favorite season of the year. Everything about spring, except the pesky pollen, I love. The sunny colors, the gentle temperatures, longer days and flower. Give me all of the tulips, daffodils and azaleas. I miss spring in Mid-Atlantic but it’s the best time in Florida to be outside before the heat and humidity settle in for the summer.
I’m failing miserably at the “no sugar” resolution. Who can blame me with so many celebrations in my world this time of year? My “one glass of wine for the week” is doing better, aside from the birthday glasses I toasted in honor of my MIL’s 80th . Who am I to argue with her? And finally, I can barely remember what my third resolution is as I write this, which likely means I must have too many. Ahh, I remember now, eat less processed foods. I’m doing much better with this one. I haven’t had crackers or any snacks out of a “wrapper.” Honestly, I don’t know why I tried to give them all up simultaneously. I blame my Type-A, over-achieving personality.
